Gastroenteritis (stomach flu) is a viral infection of the mucous membrane of the intestines. It most often affects children but also happens to adults. The illness is easy to diagnose.
In the beginning (especially in children) gastroenteritis resembles an infection of the upper respiratory tract – rhinitis or a cough can appear. Next, the typical symptoms appear:
nausea, vomiting,
acute diarrhoea,
abdominal pain,
weakness, loss of appetite,
sometimes also fever.
In the case of gastroenteritis, it is important to quickly associate the symptoms with the infection in order to quickly and effectively overcome the problems.
